    History of Huggins

Huggins & Company was originally formed in 1911 and, in the 1970’s, became part of the Hay Group, a leading international employee benefits consulting firm.

In 1911, George A. Huggins was among the first actuarial specialists to form a consulting firm serving private and governmental pension plans. Huggins & Company was established as the ranking authority of the era on clergy pensions.

During the first half of the twentieth century, actuaries learned to cope with an ever-increasing array of new circumstances including the introduction of group insurance, the influenza pandemic of 1918, severe financial problems with income disability and annuity coverages, the Great Depression, two World Wars, Social Security, and the advent of computers.

In the 1970’s, Huggins & Company became part of the Hay group, a leading international employee benefits consulting firm.  Today, Huggins Actuarial Services, Inc continues the tradition, employing leading professionals who are experts in evaluating the likelihood of future events.  For over a century, Huggins has been designing and managing programs that control risk by combining strong analytical skills and business knowledge.
