    History Slider

Huggins & Company was originally formed in 1911 and, in the 1970’s, became part of the Hay Group, a leading international employee benefits consulting firm.

Ronald T. Kuehn joined Huggins in 1980, became a partner of the Hay Group, and spearheaded their expansion into the property and casualty actuarial consulting area. In 1987, Ernst & Young LLP purchased Huggins’ insurance actuarial consulting practice. Ernst & Young continued to use the Huggins name for the actuarial services group within their insurance industry practice. Mr. Kuehn worked as a partner of Ernst & Young until his early retirement from the firm in 2003.

At the time of his retirement, Mr. Kuehn acquired the Huggins actuarial practice from Ernst & Young, along with several key employees, and re-established Huggins as an independent actuarial consulting firm. Since 2003, Huggins has steadily grown in size, both in number of clients and size of staff, primarily as a result of client referrals.
